| More convenient transport | Taxi | Book a taxi |
By train
There are two train stations at the airport. One is located directly in the basement of the terminal building and only the S-Bahn S11 line stops here. The other, where many S-Bahn and ICE (Intercity Express) trains stop daily, is connected to the airport by the SkyTrain. This runs at 5-minute intervals from 3:45 am to 0:45 am. A map can be found here, more information then here. Other cities such as Dortmund, Essen, Duisburg, Bochum, Bielefeld, Bonn, Münster and Gelsenkirchen are also easily accessible from this station.
The fastest option when using public transport will be the S-Bahn S11 train line. The train station is located at Terminal C and the train runs with a frequency of 20 minutes (30 minutes at night, on holidays and weekends). The journey time to Düsseldorf Central Station is 12 minutes.
A ticket for all public transport costs EUR 2.90 (adult) and EUR 1.7 (6 to 14 years old). Validity is 90 minutes.
Bus
Alternatively, there is a bus service. If you are going to the centre, choose line 721, which also stops outside the terminal and runs with a frequency of 30 minutes. The journey then takes about 20 minutes. The price will again be EUR 2.90.
Car rental
The most flexible option is to rent a car right at the airport. It's about 20 minutes of driving. Check out the range of cars for hire at Rentalcars.
Taxi
The most convenient option is to use Gettransfer. It's an alternative to a taxi, the drivers tend to be nicer, you choose the car you want to travel in and your driver. In this case, rates start at €14.
