About Bek Air
Bek Air was a Kazakh airline that focused only on domestic flights. It had its base at Almaty Airport, with a second major base in Astana. The company had been in operation since 1999, initially serving only business purposes, and opened to regular clientele in 2008.
In 2019, however, one of the company's aircraft crashed almost immediately after takeoff from Almaty. Of the 98 people on board, 13 died. A subsequent investigation revealed significant safety deficiencies on the part of Bek Air and the airline was banned from further operations.
