Cheap plane tickets

Planning to hit the road on your own? Buying plane tickets is the start of any adventure! Whether you want to travel to Europe or other parts of the world, here are some tips on how to get the best deals on flights. If you learn how to search properly, you can get flights to a wide range of European destinations for just a few hundred. In many cases, this will make your trip cheaper than if you were to travel by car.

How to find the cheapest airline tickets

You can search for bargain airline tickets in a variety of ways. One of the most popular is to use search engines such as Azair and Kiwi. These search engines can be a great tool for finding and comparing flight prices, thanks to their various filters and features. Alternatively, you can also use various comparison sites, including Momondo.

Cheap flight search engines - Azair & Kiwi

If you are planning a trip abroad within Europe, check out Azair. There are a few non-European destinations on offer, but not many. Don't be put off by the site's user interface, which can be confusing at first. Once you've explored the portal, it will be a great help. The great advantage of this search engine is the number of filters you can apply to your search. You can choose the length of stay, certain months for travel and even departure days. If you don't care about where you're travelling to and are actually just looking for the cheapest ticket, you can choose the "anywhere" option. The search engine focuses primarily on low-cost airlines and we recommend using it only for price comparisons. Be sure to book the tickets directly on the airline's website.

Kiwi is another tool to help you find great deals on flights. It focuses on airline tickets from low-cost and conventional airlines to all over the world. It searches for the best flight combinations from different carriers and you can use filters for the cheapest and fastest options. It often offers prices that are a few hundred cheaper than buying them directly from the airlines. However, we recommend that you book your tickets directly on the airline's website again to avoid lengthy communication in case of cancellations or changes.

    Airfare Comparators - Momondo

You can also use the Momondo flight search engine to book flights, accommodation and car rental. You can also book and search for flights using the mobile app. The search engine is also available in Czech, making it easy to find flights even for those who do not speak a foreign language. Momondo will compare the best and fastest flight options. If you are time-flexible, you can check the calendar to easily find the best flights.

Where to buy the most affordable airline tickets

You can get the cheapest airfares across Europe with many low-cost airlines, including Ryanair, Wizz Air and Easy Jet. If you shop early, you can get tickets for a few hundred to a wide variety of European and even non-European destinations. If you're travelling with a low-cost airline for the first time, there are a few things to consider. With these companies, you really only pay for the ticket, and you have to pay extra for all the other additional services. Most low-cost airlines only include a small carry-on bag in their fare that fits under the seat in front of you. If you are planning to travel with a checked suitcase or a larger carry-on bag/suitcase, expect to pay an extra fee, usually close to the price of the ticket itself. Additionally, if you're travelling with a partner, expect that you'll likely be seated at opposite ends of the plane without the extra charge. It is necessary to keep an eye on these bargain airfares. Generally, the closer you get to the departure date, the more expensive the ticket gets. But even low-cost airlines have discount promotions that you can look forward to throughout the year. They usually run for various occasions such as Valentine's Day, Black Friday or Christmas.

Ideally, don't focus on Prague Airport only, which is generally one of the most expensive airports in Europe. Try looking for flights from Vienna, Krakow, Bratislava or Berlin, where you can often get much cheaper tickets.

    Travel ticket sellers

If you don't dare to buy the ticket yourself and would like to have support in Czech language, you can choose from several sellers operating on the Czech market. These sellers offer good combinations of tickets to various destinations around the world at a slightly higher price than the airline in question. However, this usually insignificant surcharge means that you will receive complete support in Czech.

One of these sellers is the website Královna.cz, which is part of the Student Agency network. It offers the possibility of booking cheap airline tickets from a variety of international carriers. The whole booking process is done in Czech directly on the website. If there are any changes to the ticket, Czech-speaking support will be available.

One of the most popular retailers is Pelikán.cz, which compares tickets from more than 800 airlines worldwide. You can find cheap airline tickets on the website under the Special Offers tab. Booking tickets is easy and takes place in Czech directly on the Pelikán website. You can search for return, one-way or multi city tickets on the website.

Last but not least, we should also mention Letuška.cz, which also compares cheap prices for flights to all over the world. In this case, it is possible to book flights online, by a phone or with a staff member in store.

    Last minute flights

You are all familiar with last minute bargain tours, the price of which drops as the departure date approaches. Unfortunately, this rule does not apply in the world of airline tickets. In the vast majority of cases, the opposite is true and the price of tickets rises steeply as the departure date approaches. Last-minute tickets are mostly used by business travellers who have paid their fares and airlines plan to make a profit on them.

So if you want to travel cheaply, don't leave it to the last minute. But outside of the summer season, promotions on low-cost airlines can mean you can get good value tickets even a few weeks before departure. However, discount promotions are not the rule and we do not recommend you rely on them.

    Charter flights

Charter flights differ from normal flights in that they are not part of the airlines' flight schedule. They are ordered by travel agencies to transport passengers to holiday destinations. The travel agency has pre-purchased a certain capacity and sometimes it may happen that it is not filled. In this case, the tickets will be released for sale and you can purchase them. Often these are good deals, but this is not always the rule, so we recommend you compare the price with traditional carriers as well. These flights are usually direct, return and include checked baggage in their price. However, they usually go on sale a few days before departure and there are really only a few seats left.

Where to buy last minute tickets?

Charter flights with departure from the Czech Republic

Charter flights with departure from Germany and Austria

Charter flights with departure from Poland

    Cheap flights to the seaside

If you're on the hunt for cheap flights to seaside resorts, be sure to sort everything out well in advance. During the summer holidays, airfares tend to be at their highest and last minute purchases might not be worth it.

If you don't mind travelling outside the main tourist season, you can get cheap tickets during June and September, when the sea is suitable for swimming and there are fewer tourists in the destinations. We recommend you don't just focus on Prague airport, which is one of the most expensive airports in Europe. Don't forget to check out the flight deals from nearby Vienna, Bratislava or Krakow, where you can get flights to holiday destinations for a fraction of the price.

Before your trip, always calculate all expenses, it is possible that one of the last minute tours will turn out to be more cost-effective overall.
