Air Malta is the national airline of the island state of Malta. It was founded in 1973 and began operating its first flights a year later. The airline is based at Malta International Airport, located in Luqa, just a few kilometers from the state's capital Valletta.

<h3>Cheap flights</h3>
You can buy the cheapest Air Malta tickets about 2-3 months in advance of your planned departure date. Economy Class and Go Light fares are the cheapest. If you plan to fly more frequently with Air Malta, it is definitely worth signing up for the Flypass frequent flyer programme.

<h3>Online check-in</h3>
Online check-in is available 24 hours prior to departure and closes 2 hours prior to scheduled departure. You can check in via the Air Malta website by clicking on the <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://airmalta.com/" target="_blank">check-in tab</a>. After filling in the required information, a boarding pass will be generated for you. The ticket must be printed and presented at the airport. Check-in can also be done using a smart mobile device. Just select the option "<a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.airmalta.com/information/check-in/mobile-check-in" target="_blank">Mobile Check-in</a>" on the Air Malta website. The process is exactly the same except that you do not need to print the boarding pass, you can just present it on your phone.
<h3>Airport check-in</h3>
All check-in counters open at least 2 hours before departure and in most cases close 45 minutes before scheduled departure. Check-in at the airport is available free of charge to passengers in all classes. <h3>Hand luggage</h3>
All Economy Class passengers are entitled to one carry-on bag with maximum dimensions of 15.7 x 21.6 x 9.8 inches (40 x 55 x 25 cm) and a weight limit of 22 pounds (10 kg). This baggage will be checked in free of charge. One small hand luggage (handbag / laptop bag) measuring 15.7 x 11.8 x 5.9 inches (40 x 30 x 15 cm) may travel with you on board.

<h3>Checked baggage</h3>
The checked-in baggage allowance depends on the class and fare you have purchased. If you have purchased a ticket in a Go Light fare, you are not entitled to free checked baggage. Go Smart and Go Flex fares include one piece of checked baggage with a maximum weight of 50.7 pounds (23 kg). If you plan to travel in Business Class, your baggage can weigh up to 70.5 pounds (32 kg). The Smart Business and Business Freedom fares include two pieces of checked baggage weighing up to 70.5 pounds (32 kg).
<h3>Sports equipment</h3>
Sports equipment is allowed on Air Malta for a fee of €30 / £34 / $47 per piece. You need to make a reservation in advance via <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.airmalta.com/excess-baggage-en-GB" target="_blank">this link</a>, otherwise, this price won't be valid. You can book your sports equipment transport up to 4 hours before departure. On Air Malta flights, you can choose from two classes of travel - Economy and Business. The classes are divided into several other fares. The fares vary according to the number of services included.
<h3>Economy Class</h3>
<ul>
<li>Go Light - The cheapest fare which includes free hand luggage only.</li>
<li>Go Safe - This fare includes hand luggage along with a checked baggage allowance of a maximum of 23 kg.</li>
<li>Go Flex - Tariff includes a carry-on bag, checked baggage of up to 23 kg and a free seat selection.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Business Class</h3>
Business Class is divided into three fares: Just Business, Smart Business, and Business Freedom. All of the fares include carry-on baggage, seat selection, onboard refreshments, checked baggage, airport lounge access and priority boarding. Air Malta offers membership in their Flypass frequent flyer programme. This membership is free and you can sign up at <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.airmalta.com/flypass/about-flypass/join-flypass" target="_blank">this link.</a> After each flight, you earn flight miles, which can then be redeemed for free flights and other benefits.
The number of flight miles per flight you earn depends on the destination, class and services purchased. There are membership levels, which vary according to the length of membership and miles earned (Temporary Level, Permanent Level, Diamond Level).

If you are traveling in Economy Class, you can buy refreshments on board the aircraft or <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://airmalta-web.guestlogix.io/concierge/discover" target="_blank">pre-order them</a>. On board the aircraft you can pay only by cashless payment - credit or debit card. Passengers can also use the Sky shop service, which is only available for pre-orders. Business class passengers can enjoy complimentary refreshments.
If you want to book a preferred seat, you have to pay a fee.

<h3>Covid-19 Vouchers</h3>
If your flight was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic and you received a voucher instead, you can only use it before the expiry date. For vouchers expiring in the next 30 days, a free extension of up to 12 months is available. Simply contact the airline via this email: voucher.extension@airmalta.com.
