Baggage with Qantas
Baggage transportation on Qantas Airlines is subject to rules based on the class and type of flight selected. Weight restrictions are also affected by whether you fall into one of the three Qantas Frequent Flyers (Silver / Golg / Platinum) categories, for which the airline has discounted terms and conditions.

Cabin baggage is subject to the following limits.
- Economy Class: 1 piece up to 7 kg / 15,4 pounds (56 x 36 x 23 cm / 22 x 14,2 x 9 inches) OR 1 bag with clothes (60 x 11 x 114 cm / 23,6 x 4,3 x 44,9 inches)

Exceptions to the checked baggage fee for wheelchairs and other medical aids apply for persons travelling under special conditions. These items are not subject to a weight or size limit.
The following rules apply for International flights (except North and South America):

- Economy - max. 30 kg
- Premium Economy, Business Class - max. 40 kg

Sporting Equipment
As long as your sporting equipment fits within the dimensions and weight limit of your checked baggage, you don't have to worry about anything. Otherwise, you'll need to purchase additional luggage before your trip. Remember that you will need to pay for extra baggage for all flights (unless you are flying direct) and for return tickets.
Some sports equipment, such as surfboards and surf skis, may not be able to be carried as checked baggage due to weight limits and larger dimensions and will need to be sent as cargo. In this case, the airline will charge you a shipping fee.
All items must be properly and securely packed to prevent damage to them or other cargo.
