Xiamen Airlines is originally from China and the airline's new official name is XiamenAir. It has several main airports namely Fuzhou, Hangzhou and of course Sia-men which gives the airline its name. XiamenAir was founded in 1984 and currently a majority of its stocks are held by China Southern Airlines. The airline is part of the SkyTeam alliance. XiamenAir flies to approximately 350 different destinations.
The XiamenAir fleet is made up of Boeing aircraft and the vast majority are Boeing 737. The airline owns over 200 aircraft with an average age of 6 years which is making it one of the youngest fleets in the world.

If you are flying from Xiamen Airport, you have two check-in options - check-in online or at the airport. If you fly from other airports than Xiamen, your only option is to check in at the airport.
<h3>Online check-in</h3>
You can use this option with XiamenAir only for departures from Xiamen Airport. You can check in<a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.xiamenair.com/en-vn/" target="_blank"> online</a> on the airline's website. However, if you prefer to check in at the airport, you can do so free of charge.
<h3>Airport check-in</h3>
The opening time of the check-in counters varies depending on whether it's a domestic flight (then it's 90 - 30 minutes before departure) or an international flight (in this case, the counters open 120 minutes before departure and close 40 minutes before departure).

The number and weight of the baggage allowed on XiamenAir depend on whether you are flying to a domestic or international destination.
<h3>Hand baggage</h3>
Carry-on baggage must not exceed 21.6 x 15.7 x 7.9 inches (55x40x20 cm). The weight limit of this luggage is set by XiamenAir at 11 pounds (5 kg). Travellers in Economy and Business Class can travel with 1 carry-on bag. First-class passengers can bring 2 carry-on bags on board.
<h3>Checked Baggage</h3>
The maximum dimensions of checked baggage are 39.4 x 23.6 x 15.7 inches (100 x 60 x 40 cm) and the maximum weight limit is 110.2 pounds (50 kg). In the price of Economy Class there is one piece of checked luggage included with the maximum weight of 44 pounds (20 kg). For Business Class passengers the limit is 66 pounds (30 kg). First-class passengers can have 88.2 pounds (40 kg) of luggage on domestic flights.
On international flights, Economy passengers can have a suitcase of 50.7 pounds (23 kg), Business travellers can have 2 pieces of luggage of 70.5 pounds (32 kg). First-class passengers can have 3 pieces of luggage weighing 70.5 pounds (32 kg).
If you are flying in Economy Class to the USA or Japan then you can have 1 extra piece of luggage (in total 2 pieces of luggage weighing up to 50.7 pounds / 23 kg).

On board XiamenAir all refreshments are available free of charge for all travel classes. You can choose from a wide selection of both non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages. There is also usually a choice of 2-3 hot meals. On longer flights, you can expect smaller snacks with your hot meal or (for example) dinner + breakfast.
You can spend some time using the entertainment system, which offers a variety of foreign films, series, music or games.

You can take advantage of 1 (always) of the following 3 options during your layover in Xiamen:
<h3>Free Hotel</h3>
If you have a change in Xiamen with a duration between 6 and 24 hours, you can request a free hotel stay. Another condition for this benefit is that both flights are operated by Xiamen Airlines.
If you are travelling alone and in Economy Class, you may be sharing a double room with a stranger (of the same gender). In both Business and First Class, you are entitled to a single room (if requested). Breakfast is always included in the price of your accommodation, but you must arrange your own transfers to and from the hotel and airport. A deposit for the hotel room will also be required.
<h3>Airport Lounge</h3>
Another option is to use the Free Airport Lounge. There, you have showers, comfortable beds and light refreshments like tea, coffee or cold drinks.
<h3>City Tour</h3>
The third option for your Xiamen layover is the free bus service to the city centre. This is a hop on - hop off bus and you can pre-select what would you like to see.
