Bus
The cheapest transport from the airport to central London is provided by buses. However, it is important to note that transportation in London is complicated, and the journey can take more than two hours. Especially if you are heading to the airport, we recommend allowing more than 3 hours. The best-priced tickets can be purchased through easybus.com, with prices starting at £1.99. Again, the earlier you buy the tickets, the cheaper they will be. Easybus only acts as a seller, so you might be traveling with National Express. You can also purchase tickets directly from them, but it's often less advantageous. Although you buy tickets for a specific time, if you miss your connection, you can usually take the next one (if there are available seats).
The bus stop is right in front of the airport. You can get off at London Victoria, Liverpool Street, or Baker Street. Buses run 24 hours a day at intervals of 15 - 20 minutes.
Train
The fastest transport from the airport to central London is offered by the Stansted Express train. The train station is about 2 minutes from the terminal, and trains run every 15 minutes. You can reach Liverpool Street in about 50 minutes. We recommend purchasing tickets in advance online, as it is more economical and you can take advantage of various discounts. However, you can also buy them on-site at a machine or at the information desk at the train station. Tickets can be obtained with early purchase from £9.50, and the later you buy them, the more expensive they are. Directly at the station, tickets are available for £19. The timetable can be found here. The ticket is not purchased for a specific time but is valid all day.
With a Stansted Express ticket, you can also take advantage of the 2FOR1 offer, where you get entry to 2 London attractions for the price of 1.
Taxi
The most comfortable transport from the airport is using the Gettransfer service. It is especially worthwhile if you are traveling with children, as you can also arrange for a child seat. The price should be around £55, and the advantage is that you know the price in advance.
Car Rental
The most flexible transport to London is car rental. You can compare offers from all car rental companies on the Rentalcars website.
Transport to Cambridge
The cheapest transport from London Stansted Airport to Cambridge is provided by the train operator CrossCountry. Ticket prices start at £7.9, and connections run approximately once an hour (timetable here). It is a direct connection, and the journey time is about 30 minutes.
The second option is bus connections with National Express. The journey takes 50 minutes, and the price starts at £8. Again, the earlier you buy the tickets, the more you save.
An alternative is to travel by rented car through Rentalcars or use taxi services Gettransfer (the price for the ride starts at £45).
