Train
Palermo Airport has its own train station (Aeroporto Punta Raisi), which can be found on the underground level below the airport terminal.
The journey to the centre (Palermo Centrale) takes about an hour, while the journey to the north of Palermo (Palermo Notarbartolo) takes about 40 minutes. Trains run approximately every 30 minutes from 5:15 am to 10:40 pm.
For a one-way ticket, you will pay €5.90. You can buy it online or at a ticket machine on the spot. Children up to 4 years old travel for free, a ticket for children aged 5-12 costs €3.
Bus
Another option is a bus from the transport company Prestia e Comande. You will find the bus stop just outside the arrivals hall. Buses run roughly every 30 minutes and take you to the centre in about 45 minutes. The last bus from the airport leaves at 00:30 and the first bus from the city leaves at 4 am.
The bus goes to the main station (Palermo Centrale) via a number of stops. If you are heading towards the old town, the best place to get off is at Via Roma. If you are staying near the port or in the northern part of Palermo city centre, get off at Piazza Castelnuovo (Teatro Politeama Garibaldi).
The price for a one-way ticket purchased online is EUR 6 and for a return ticket EUR 10. Tickets can be purchased online via this link. You can buy it for slightly more on the spot at a vending machine.
