Bus
A quick and cheap option are the buses from Terravision (one-way 6 EUR, return 11 EUR, this option is recommended), Sitbus (one-way €6, round trip €11) or Rome Airport bus (one-way €9.90, round trip €13.90). These buses will take you to the city centre near Roma Termini Station. Timetables can be found directly on the websites of each company. This is a reasonably comfortable way of transport at a reasonable price. The buses leave from the city centre, so be sure to allow time for your journey to the airport. You may find that the journey will be longer due to heavy traffic.
Ciampino Airlink
You can also use the Ciampino Airlink, which is a combination of bus and train services. Tickets can be purchased on the Trenitalia website for €2.70. This is a fast connection between the centre and the airport, taking approximately 35 minutes. This option will be appreciated by backpackers or any travellers who want to keep costs to a minimum.
City buses
The cheapest option are the 520 and 720 city buses, which stop at Laurentina (720) and Cinecittà (520) metro stations and therefore don't take you to the very centre. This option should only be chosen if you are not pressed for time (transfer required) or if you are not heading into the city centre.
Taxi
The most convenient and fastest way is to use Gettransfer. The great advantage is that you know the price of the ride in advance and if you are travelling with children, you can have a child seat provided, for example. The price should be around €30. These services are especially appreciated by families with children and groups that can budget the price for several people.
Night transport
Most of the companies listed above offer services until around midnight. If you can't make either of them, you can use them to get downtown with Gettransfer, taxi or Uber.
Transport from Ciampino Airport to Civitavecchia Port
Ciampino Airport is approximately 90 kilometres from the port of Civitavecchia. Unfortunately, there is no direct connection between them. The best option is to take the train to the city centre at Roma Termini station (with one of the companies mentioned above) and from there continue by train to Civitavecchia. The train stop is about 2 km from the port. Tickets can be purchased at Trenitalia. The journey takes just over an hour and tickets can be bought for around €4.5.
