Bulgaria Air began operating flights in 2002 as the successor to Balkan Bulgarian Airlines. The airline has its main base in Sofia and focuses mainly on domestic flights, flights to Europe and the Middle East. It operates charter flights to more than 100 cities. Bulgaria Air, in cooperation with other airlines, offers flights to Europe, North America, Asia and Africa. In total, you can choose from more than 400 destinations.
The airline's total fleet consists of 11 aircraft, including Airbus A320, Airbus A319 and Embraer ERJ-190. The average age of the aircraft is 10 years.

Online check-in is available 24 hours to 2 hours before departure. You can check in via the <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.air.bg/en/customer-support/online-check-in-upgrade" target="_blank">internet site</a>. Online check-in is available only for flights from Sofia, Varna, Burgas, London, Zurich, Rome, Milan, Paris, Berlin, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Vienna, Brussels, Tel Aviv, Athens, Prague, Moscow, and Larnaca Airport. Boarding passes must be printed.
<h3>Airport check-in</h3>
Bulgaria Air offers its passengers the possibility to check in at the airport for free. The check-in counter opens 2 hours before departure and the last passenger must be checked in 45 minutes before scheduled departure.

Economy class - It is possible to transport one piece of luggage with dimensions up to 21.7 x 15.7 x 9 inches (55 x 40 x 23 cm) for free, weight must not exceed 22 pounds (10 kg) and the sum of sides (length, width, height) can be up to 46.45 inches (118 cm). It is also possible to take one personal item (handbag, laptop, camera,...) on board.
Business class - You can carry two pieces of carry-on luggage up to 21.7 x 15.7 x 9 inches (55 x 40 x 23 cm) for free, the total weight must not exceed 33 pounds (15 kg). It is also possible to take one personal item (handbag, laptop, camera...) on board.
<h3>Checked baggage</h3>
Checked luggage can weigh up to 50.7 pounds (23 kg) and have dimensions up to 62.2 inches (158 cm) in total (length + width + height).
Economy Class - If not included in the fare, you will have to pay an extra fee of €16 / £14 / $18 per flight.
Business class - Two checked bags are included in the fare. Each bag can weigh up to 70.5 pounds (32 kg).
<h3>Sporting equipment, pets </h3>
Sporting equipment can be transported for €53 / £43 / $59 per flight, bicycles for €32 / £26 / $36. Pets can be carried from €62 / £51 / $70, depending on the flight.

Bulgaria Air offers two travel classes (Economy and Business).
In Business Class, you get priority check-in and priority boarding, additional checked luggage, access to airport lounges, more comfort and, if you are a member of the FLY MORE loyalty program, you will earn more points.
In some cases it is possible to upgrade to Business Class from 24 hours to 40 minutes before the flight. You will pay €53 / £43 / $59 for a domestic flight and €104 / £86 / $117 for an international flight for this upgrade. The upgrade is possible via customer service (+359 2 40 20 400, e-mail: callFB@air.bg) or directly at the airport.
