Ethiopian Airlines are Ethiopia's national airlines, based at Bole International Airport in Ethiopia's capital, Addis Ababa. The first Ethiopian Airlines aircraft took off in 1946. The company currently operates 116 international and 23 domestic routes. Ethiopian Airlines flies all over the world, but most of its flights are within the African continent.

Airport check-in is available free of charge. Check in at least 2 hours before your scheduled departure.

If you are flying in Economy Class, you can take on board a carry-on bag up to 7 kg (15.4 lb) and measuring 55 x 40 x 23 cm (21.7 x 15.7 x 9 inches) and one personal item up to 5 kg (11 lb), such as a laptop, camera, handbag or book. If you are flying in Business Class, you are also entitled to a second bag up to 7 kg.
<h3>Checked baggage</h3>
The number and weight of checked baggage varies depending on your destination and travel class. For flights to/from Europe in Economy Class, you are entitled to 2 checked bags, each with a maximum weight of 23 kg (50.7 lb). In Business Class, you can have a total of 3 checked bags. For each additional checked bag up to 23 kg, you will pay extra EUR 184 / USD 200 / GBP 158. You can also pay even more for a heavier suitcase (max. 32 kg / 70.5 pounds).
<h3>Sports equipment</h3>
You will pay EUR 74-184 / USD 80-200 / GBP 63-158 for transport of sports equipment, for example a bicycle will cost EUR 92 / USD 100 / GBP 79.

<h3>Traveling with children under 2</h3>
Children under 2 years of age can travel on a parent's lap and pay only a fraction of the ticket price. On a flight from Frankfurt to Addis Ababa, for example, it's EUR 23 / USD 25 / GBP 18. If you have more than one child per adult, the other child must have his or her own seat and ticket.
You can take baby food, water, a car seat and extra hand luggage up to 10 kg (22 lb) on board. A foldable stroller will be accepted for free as checked baggage.
<h3>Traveling with children over 2 years old</h3>
Children between 2 and 11 years old pay 75% of the full ticket price. When traveling with children, you must have their valid passport in addition to a birth certificate. A child under the age of 18 traveling to South Africa must show the consent of both parents upon entry into the country.
