International Airport Athens Eleftherios Venizelos (code: ATH) is the busiest airport in Greece. It was opened in 2001, making it relatively modern. This airport is located 23 kilometers from Athens. Navigation here is not difficult (even during transfers), with arrivals on the ground floor and departures on the second floor of the same building. Athens Airport is the base for the domestic airline Aegean Airlines and was named after a Greek Prime Minister.

Change at the airport

Transferring at Athens Airport is not particularly difficult, and everything is well signposted. Departures and arrivals are located in one building of the main terminal (arrivals on the ground floor and departures on the first floor). For a standard guaranteed transfer within a single ticket, 1 hour should be sufficient.
For a non-guaranteed transfer, allow at least 2.5 hours. The airport can be very busy, and long queues may form.

<h3>Affordable Parking</h3>
For affordable and easy parking at Athens Airport, it is recommended to book a parking spot online through e-Parking, directly via <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.aia.gr/traveler/parking/e-parking/parking-fee-calculator" target="_blank">this link</a>. This option is available up to 30 minutes before your car arrives at the airport, allowing you to get parking at a better rate. Of course, you can still pick up a ticket upon arrival and pay at the airport machine (without online reservation). In this case, the price will be higher.
<h3>Short-term Parking</h3>
Right in front of the airport building, there is a parking lot for short-term stops (P1 and P2). The first 20 minutes are free, and then, for example, the full price for 1 hour is 4.50 EUR. This parking lot is within a 1 - 2 minute walking distance from the main terminal.
<h3>Long-term Parking</h3>
Long-term parking (P3) at Athens Airport is located behind P1 and P2. A pedestrian bridge connects this parking lot with the main terminal, and the walk takes about 5 minutes. There is also a free shuttle bus available, departing every 5 - 6 minutes. Here too, the first 20 minutes are free.
At the edges of P3, there are two zones called Economy Parking. Economy is recommended for longer stays at the lowest prices and is available only with online reservation. The price for one day is 5 EUR. A free shuttle bus provides transfer from this parking lot to the main terminal, taking 8 - 10 minutes.
The bus providing shuttle service between the main terminal and P3 and Economy parking lots departs towards the parking lot from the stop in front of exit 3, located on the ground floor at Departures.
