Turkish Airlines is Turkey's national airline, based at Istanbul Airport, the newest of Istanbul's three airports. Its other bases are at Antalya, Ankara and Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen airports. In general, the earlier you buy your tickets, the cheaper you can get them. The Promotion fare is the cheapest. Turkish Airlines offer bargain fares to selected destinations, sometimes up to a year in advance.

You can check in online free of charge between 24 hours and 90 minutes before departure directly on <a rel="noopener" href="https://www.turkishairlines.com/" target="_blank">the airline's website</a> or in the Turkish Airlines mobile app. Either print the boarding pass with the QR code or save it on your phone. Online check-in saves you time at the airport, especially if you are flying with hand luggage only.
<h3>Airport check-in</h3>
Check-in at the airport is free of charge and it is possible 2 hours to 45 minutes before departure. At some airports, you can check in using the self check-in kiosk.

<h3>Carry-on baggage</h3>
You can take on board a carry-on bag with a maximum weight of 8 kg (17,6 pounds) and dimensions of 55 x 40 x 23 cm (21,7 x 15,7 x 9 inches) and a second bag, such as a handbag, camera bag or laptop bag with a maximum size of 40 x 30 x 15 cm (15,7 x 11,8 x 5,9 inches). If you're flying first class, you can have two carry-on bags up to 8 kg, plus a small one. If you are travelling with a child under 2 years old, you are entitled to an additional piece of hand luggage up to 8 kg.
<h3>Checked baggage</h3>
Checked baggage allowances depend on the route and destination chosen. Usually it is 20 kg (44 lb) per passenger, on some flights the limits are higher or more pieces are allowed. However, it is always the case that no checked baggage may exceed 32 kg.
If you want to pay extra for a larger checked bag, it will cost you EUR 40 / USD 44 / GBP 34 per 5 kg (11 lb). Carrying a bicycle or other oversized sports equipment costs between EUR 30-60 / USD 33-66 / GBP 26-52. If you are travelling with a child under 2 years old, you are entitled to additional checked baggage up to 10 kg (22 lb) and a folding pushchair.

Economy class is the cheapest, offers a standard seat, a built-in screen with a variety of channels and games, a USB port for charging your phone, and on some routes, snacks and a bag that includes earplugs, socks, toothbrush and toothpaste, lip balm and a sleep mask.

Business class offers enhanced comfort and convenience. In addition to priority check-in, extra luggage and access to the airport's VIP lounge, you'll also have a comfortable seat that can recline to a horizontal position (some planes even have massage seats).

<h3>Flying with children under 2 years</h3>
For children under 2 years of age, Turkish Airlines offer a discount (the amount of the discount depends on the flight and destination). The child sits on your lap during the flight. If you are flying with multiple young children, each child must have a car seat.
If you are flying with a toddler, you may have the following extra:

<li>folding stroller as checked baggage</li>
<li>checked luggage up to 10 kg (22 lb)</li>
<li>carry-on baggage up to 8 kg (17,6 lb)</li>
<li>food and drinks for children in containers up to 100 ml</li>
