Abu Dhabi Airport (code: AUH) is the second largest in the United Arab Emirates (after Dubai) and is located about 37 kilometers from the capital city of the same name. It is one of the fastest-growing airports in the world, but often serves only as a transit point between Europe and Asia. It is the home airport of the national carrier Etihad Airways.
It consists of 3 terminals A, B, and C (terminal A is further divided into sections 1A and 1B). Abu Dhabi Airport is used by approximately 30 airlines, connecting around 100 destinations in 50 countries worldwide.
The airport is open 24 hours a day.

Change at the airport

The airport consists of 3 terminals, with a free shuttle service operating every 15 minutes. It is also possible to walk between terminal 1 and 3, which will take you a maximum of 15 minutes.
If you have purchased both flights on a single ticket, which means a guaranteed connection, you should have enough time with an hour for a transfer within the same terminal and about an hour and a quarter if you are transferring to another terminal.
If you have purchased two separate tickets, in the event of a delay on the first flight, it could happen that you miss the connecting flight and the ticket will be forfeited without compensation. Therefore, we recommend allowing a gap of several hours or ideally planning your trip so that you can also visit the city center of Abu Dhabi or the famous Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, which is about a fifteen-minute taxi ride from the airport.

If you want to travel around the area, we recommend renting a car. You have several options for renting one. Car rental agencies can be found opposite Terminal 3 in Skypark Plaza. The rental agencies are within walking distance from Terminals 1 and 3. If you need to get from Terminal 2, use the Shuttle bus. Your night can be improved by using eye protection and earplugs. Also pack a light blanket, as the airport is air-conditioned.
