Transfer at Rome Fiumicino Airport
At Fiumicino Airport, there are three terminals, but currently, only two are operational: T1 and T3. You can transfer between them on foot within the same building, and you should reserve 1 hour for this. It might take less time, but the airport is very busy, and it's safer to reserve extra time.
- Terminal 1 serves the following airlines: Air Baltic, Air Europa, Air France, Air Italy, Air Malta, Alitalia, Hop!, KLM, Luxair, Eurowings, Swiss, Lufthansa, Vueling, Tap Air Portugal, Brussels Airlines, Sas, and Aegean Airlines.
- Terminal 3 handles: domestic flights, flights to and from the Schengen area by airlines not listed above, direct flights to the USA, and flights to Israel operated by non-Italian airlines.
- Terminal 5 is currently under renovation.
Check-in for Blue Air, Eurowings-Germanwings, Pegasus Airlines, Ryanair, and Wizz Air has been temporarily redirected from other terminals to T3 due to planned renovations.
After the renovation, Terminal T5, which is outside the main building, will also be operational, and you can reach it by a free shuttle train.
Transport from Fiumicino Airport to Ciampino Airport
The airports are approximately 30 km apart. There is currently no direct connection between the airports, so you need to travel first to the center of Rome to Termini station and from there use services like Terravision. You can also use Flixbus with a transfer in the city center. Allow 4 hours for this transfer.
Long Layover at Fiumicino Airport
If you have a long layover at the airport and the weather permits, you can take advantage of the airport's proximity to the sea. The Contral bus will take you from the airport to the "Lido di Ostia" stop, where you can spend your waiting time on the beach. The ticket costs 1.3 EUR, and the schedules can be found here. The bus stop is located between terminals T1 and T3.
