Lufthansa offers several check-in options. If you want to check-in at the airport, this service is free. However, it is worth using the online check-in option or checking-in via the mobile phone app. You can check-in up to 23 hours before departure.

Online check-in

To use the online check-in option, visit the website and click on the "Online check-in" section. There you have to fill in booking reference or ticket number and name. You can add another passenger, buy luggage or change your seat assignment.

App Check-in

You can download the Lufthansa app to your phone. The app is free, easy to use and available in English. The check-in option is one of the main buttons on the home screen. After selecting the "Check-in" option, you will be redirected to the passenger identification selection. The options are the same as on the airline's website. If you select a specific travel class, you have the option to purchase luggage or change your seat on the plane.

This is a great way to check-in for those who frequently travel with Lufthansa and don't have baggage to be checked in. The app is also worth having for other reasons. In case of any changes, delays or connecting flights, you will receive information about these in the app.

Check-in at the airport

If you need to check in your luggage, or if you don't have experience with online check-in, you can also check in at the airport for free. Check-in counters close 40 minutes before departure.
