Wizz Air is a Hungarian low-cost airline that was founded in 2003. The first flight was carried out in 2004 from Katowice, Poland to Luton, London. Today, Wizz Air flies to 151 airports in 44 countries on 710 routes. Like most low-cost airlines, Wizz Air uses secondary airports, which can serve passengers faster and cheaper.
The fleet includes 119 ultra-modern Airbus A320, A321 and the more environmentally friendly A321 neo aircraft. This has made Wizz Air the airline with the smallest environmental footprint per passenger. Thanks to its modern fleet, it has also been listed as one of the ten safest low-cost carriers in 2019. Wizz Air's aircraft are recognisable by their distinctive pink colour.

<h3>Online check-in</h3>
Online check-in is available 30 days to 3 hours before your scheduled departure, but only if you have purchased a specific seat with your ticket. If you have not purchased a seat, you can check in no earlier than 48 hours before departure.
Online check-in can be done in two ways:

<li>Directly on the Wizz Air website (wizzair.com), where you log in to your profile, fill in the required information and generate a boarding pass. This must then be printed (black and white is also possible) and presented at the departure gate.</li>
<li>The other way is to check-in in the Wizz Air mobile app (<a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wizzair.WizzAirApp&amp;hl=en&amp;gl=US" target="_blank">Google Play</a> for Android, <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://apps.apple.com/us/app/wizz-air/id583348801" target="_blank">App Store</a> for iOS). In the app, you need to fill in the required data and generate a boarding pass (in the form of a barcode). If you have an internet connection, you do not need to print the boarding pass, just submit it in the mobile app.</li>

When travelling within the Schengen area, there is no need to provide any data related to travel documents during online check-in.
<h3>Check-in at the airport</h3>
Check-in at the airport is only possible for a fee of EUR 10 / USD 11 / GBP 8,5. It starts two hours before departure and the check-in counter closes 40 minutes before departure.

<h3>Carry-on baggage</h3>
With the purchase of your ticket you are entitled to one small bag free of charge. This must measure 40 x 30 x 20 cm (15,7 x 11,8 x 7,9 inches), weigh up to 10 kg (22 lb) and fit under the seat in front of you. This can be a handbag, a laptop bag or a small backpack. If you purchase Wizz Priority, you can take a 55 x 40 x 23 cm (21,7 x 15,7 x 9 inches) carry-on bag on board along with your small backpack (of the above dimensions).
Passengers (without Wizz Priority) who exceed the specified dimensions will be charged a fee of EUR 25 / USD 27 / GBP 21 at the gate.

<h3>Checked baggage</h3>
In total, you can check in up to 6 pieces of baggage that will travel in the aircraft's hold. You can choose from three types of baggage, namely 10 kg (22 lb), 20 kg (44 lb) and 32 kg (70,5 lb), which must not exceed the specified dimensions.
If you are travelling with a small child, Wizz Air offers the option of checking in a sports/folding pushchair or a car seat for each child free of charge. You will be given a tag when you check in and then you can take a pushchair to the stairs or door of the aircraft, where a crew member will take care of it.
You can also check in sports equipment such as a bike, skis or a snowboard for a fee of EUR 30 / USD 33 / GBP 26.

<li>Low-cost airlines may offer cheap tickets, but they charge additional fees for all services beyond the ticket. If you really want to save money, travel light with only a small carry-on bag, which is included in the ticket price. If possible, buy your tickets well in advance. The closer you get to the departure date, the more likely it is that prices will be higher.</li>
<li>Always buy tickets in the currency of the country you are departing from. If you convert the amount into your own currency, you will get a less favourable exchange rate and the ticket will be more expensive. For example, when flying from Budapest to Kutaisi, pay for your ticket in Hungarian forints (HUF).</li>
<li>If you're travelling with two or more people, it's usually worth registering to the Wizz Discount Club membership when you first buy your tickets. The cost of the fee will be "returned" to you in the form of discount on your first flight. You can enjoy the benefits of the discount club for a full year after paying the fee. If you do not take advantage of them, nothing will happen and your membership will automatically lapse after one year.</li>

<h3>Flying with children under 2</h3>
The price of a ticket for children up to two years of age is the same for all flights: EUR 33 / USD 36 / GBP 28. Children this young are expected to sit on the lap of an adult, who in this case must reserve a window seat. Only one child under two years of age may travel in the arms of an adult. There is a baby changing counter in the toilet at the rear of the aircraft. A car seat for a child under two can only be taken on board if an additional seat is purchased. To be covered by this policy, the child must be over 14 days old and under two years of age at the time of arrival / departure.
If you are travelling with young children, you have nothing to worry about. Wizz Air offers a number of benefits for passengers with young children. One of them, for example, is priority boarding for two adults when travelling with a child under the age of two. You can take a foldable pushchair to the door of the aircraft or to the stairs, after which the staff will place it in the luggage compartment free of charge. It is recommended that you take these checked-in items to the check-in counter, where staff will tag them free of charge.
<h3>Travelling with children under 14</h3>
Children under 14 do not get any special discounts on airfares, they pay the same amount as adults. They must travel unaccompanied by an adult (or a minor over 16 years of age) and are entitled to a free seat allocation in addition to the adult seat reservation. The adult must pay for the seat reservation and any number of children travelling with them have a free seat reservation next to the adult to allow the family to sit together.

Children of 14 and 15 years of age may travel unaccompanied, but cannot be responsible for another child.

If you want to change your flight or passenger names, you can do so by logging into your Wizz Air account. All changes must be completed no later than 3 hours before the scheduled departure.
Flight changes are subject to charges and vary in price according to the number of days remaining until departure. If you purchase any additional services after check-in, you must check in again and generate a new boarding pass.

If you have to cancel your ticket for any reason and want to receive a refund for the cancelled flight, there are cancellation fees. If you cancel your flight earlier than 14 days before departure, you must pay a cancellation fee of EUR 66 / USD 72 / GBP 65.
After that you will be refunded the price of the ticket. If you cancel less than 14 days before departure, the fee will be higher (EUR 88 / USD 96 / GBP 75) and you will not be entitled to a refund for the services purchased.

If you were not satisfied with the Wizz Air service and want to make a complaint, you need to fill in a special <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://wizzair.com/cs-cz/informace-a-sluzby/komplimenty-a-stiznosti/" target="_blank">complaint form</a>. You will receive a unique ID which you must quote in any further correspondence regarding your claim.
Wizz Air should respond to you within 30 days, but in most cases it takes longer.
<h3>Delayed flight</h3>
If your flight is delayed for more than 2 hours at the departure airport, you are entitled to free refreshments. Usually the airline will issue a voucher for a certain amount (depending on the length of the delay), which you can use directly at the airport. You are also entitled to two free phone calls.
If your flight is delayed for more than 3 hours, you are also entitled to financial compensation. The amount varies depending on the distance between the two airports. You are only entitled to compensation if the airline is to blame for the delay.
If the flight is not scheduled until the following day due to a long delay, you are entitled to free hotel accommodation and airport transfers.
<h3>Flight Cancellation</h3>
If your flight is cancelled by Wizz Air, <a rel="noopener" href="/compensation" target="_blank">here you can find out</a> whether you are entitled to compensation under Regulation 261/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council. This ranges from EUR 250 to EUR 600 provided that

<li>The flight is delayed at its final destination by more than 3 hours from the scheduled time of arrival,</li>
<li>the flight cancellation is notified by the airline less than 14 days before the scheduled departure date,</li>
<li>the passenger has been prevented from boarding the aircraft,</li>
<li>the passenger's luggage has been lost,...</li>
</ul>

Compensation must be requested online in your Wizz Air account. You should receive a full refund for the cancelled flight. Alternatively, you can choose the credit refund option (120% of the original amount).

Wizz Air can be officially contacted by calling 900 140 809 and only in English. The rate per minute is EUR 0,6. If you need to resolve compensation for a cancelled or delayed flight with the airline, you need to fill out <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://wizzair.com/en-gb/request-compensation" target="_blank">a special form</a> on their website.

Unless you select a specific seat (for a fee) when you check-in online, Wizz Air will assign you a random seat based on availability. If you're travelling with other travel companions, they could be automatically assigned a seat far away from yours.
Front row or emergency exit seats are more expensive than regular seats. These are premium seats as they offer more legroom and therefore more comfort.
